I saw it!!!!

Last night some friends and i went to go see the Twilight movie. We had our tickets, pre purchased of course, grabbed a bite to eat and then stood in the crazy long line to get into the theatre. Of course it was good movie, but could it have been better? The answer is yes. In my opinion, Edward is not what I had imagined. So, naturaly I was a little disappointed. I also thought the acting between Edward and Bella was not natural. Maybe because I knew all the in between details and how good Edward really is! I know they can't get everything from a book into a movie, but to me it just didn't flow. The funnest part of the evening was sitting next to my to friends who were beyond excited to see the movie and especially Edward. All the girls in the theatre kept screaming...it was so loud in there! Definetly worth the experience and I may go see it again, when there is not so much screaming. Oh and the screen kept screwing up with lines running through it, colors changing, and the sound going out. Thank you Lyynley for setting up a fun GNO! As soon as I can steal a picture from one of their blogs I will post our group. Until then you get this one!

Friendship Feast

Allison's class had a Friendship Feast for their last day of school. I went to help out and man some games. The kids were so cute. They all had their paper bag Indian vests and feather hats. They ate turkey, carrots, applesauce, cheese, crackers, and so on. They also sang their Mr. Turkey song. I should have recorded it. It goes like this: Mr. Turkey, Mr. Turkey... big and fat, big and fat... I'm going to eat you, I'm going to eat you... just like that, just like that! Then we played games and they had so much fun. I am so grateful that my husband works hard enough so that I can stay home and do all these fun things with my children!

Last day of school for 6 WEEKS

On the last day of school they have an awards ceremony. Today Zach got an award. He received the Kiwanis (sp?) award. He got it for being a great, compassionate kid and a big help to all of his classmates. This cute elderly man comes faithfully every time to present the awards. Good job Zach. We are so proud of you. Keep up the great work!

Now two boys?

I came home from an enrichment activity last night at 9:15. Spencer was still awake. He hung out with Craig for awhile and then announced at 10 he was tired. At 10:05 (no kidding that quick) I went to check on the kids. I see Spencer sticking out from under his bed, asleep. I then notice is missing. I start searching the whole house and all the possible places he could have dropped to go to sleep. That is dad's technique pf putting kids to bed. Let 'em go and eventually they will drop wherever and sleep. I couldn't find him anywhere! So, I decide to go put Spencer in his bed and then continue the search. Here is what I found when I got down to pull Spencer out.

Seriously, what is it about sleeping under the bed? I got Spencer out and put warmer jammies on him and he was still asleep crying, "No, I sleep on the floor!"

The Dentist

We have dentist appointments for the whole family next month, but Matthew has a cavity that I was afraid needed to be looked at sooner. So off to the dentist we went. This was his first trip and so I was a little nervous to see how this was going to go. I had to call in reinforcements...Grandma Nana. Our dentist is the best. Matthew is the kid that just sits back watches everyoine else and then decides if it is worth his time to try it. We put him in that chair and he tried so hard to be brave. The tears started to quietly come and he did his best to hold them back. Our dentist and his hygenist were so good with him and talked him through every step. They were able to get an xray and get a good look at his teeth. Yes he has a cavity and 2 more begining. They decided it could wait until next month and just clean his teeth to see how he does with that. Overall he did VERY well. He also said he was willing to come back so they could fix his tooth. I hope next month goes just as well. Atleast dad and grandma Nana will be there for that one. We have the whole office to ourselves for 2 hours. Yep, that is what happens when everyone goes all at once!

This is his trying to be brave face. Do you see Eli trying to take a peek? Your turn is next month buddy!

Here he is trying to not let on that he was crying.

Daddy

The last few mornings Spencer has been a litlle out of character. Yesterday morning Craig was standing by the door getting ready to go. I was sitting at the computer and could hear Spencer mumbling something. It wasn't until Craig walked back to the bedroom that I understood what he was mumbling. He kept saying over and over, "I going to work daddy". You have to know that it was in that cute little whiny voice too.(not all the time is that voice cute, but yesterday it was) Craig knelt down and told him he loved him, gave him a hug and a kiss and as best he could told him not today, buddy. Oh, that broke his heart. He stood at the door and watched Craig pull away in hysterics yelling, "I want my daddy. I go to work with daddy". That would have broken my heart if I had to go with my baby yelling for me. Nothing would console him. Not mommy OR his teddy bear. He just stood there in the door way crying for his daddy. He wouldn't even let me close the door. I ran to snap a picture, but he turned to look at me. If you could see his face you would see how very sad he was.

Sunday was our primary program at church. I look forward to it every year. The kids are so adorable up there and they are so excited about their shining moment. This year we have 4 kids participating. I know can you believe it? They asked that the boys wear white shirts and ties and that the girls wear as much white as possible. (just a small side note: my friend Melissa, yea the one with the kids who make it snow in Allison's room, felt she needed to redeem herself and made a skirt for Allison and her 2 girls) Thanks Melissa. Allison was so excited when she saw it. She asked me where it came form and I told her. I wish you could have seen the look on her face when I said she had made it. She said to me, "How did she do that?" I said, "Well she took some material and sewed it together with her sewing machine." Maybe I should dust the cobwebs off of my machine and learn to sew. Maybe then it wouldn't be so foreign to my children. All Allison could say was, "She is amazing, mom!" I know she is. Okay, back to the program. I had to take a picture of my beautiful children. I also decided to record their parts. You have to know that my kids are usually pretty shy. I was a little nervous about Matthew willingly walking up and saying his part. Of course being the mom that I am I bribed them all with candy and I am not ashamed to admit that I stoop that low. It worked like a charm! They all did great and brought tears to my eyes. I am so proud of each and everyone of you and I love you!
Sorry for all the background noise. I also stopped them a little to soon, so you miss the last words.

Ouch!

On Sat. Craig took the 4 big kids to the primary program practice, so it was just me and little man at home. I was getting ready for dinner and he comes in dragging Allison's pet shop house. He was also whinning about something, but I really couldn't understand so I just said to him when you are done playing with it you have to put it away. I thought he wanted some company while he played. Wrong!!! He said in a louder voice, "My hand stuck." Oh, I see now. He put a pet shop in the tube and decided he wanted to get it back. I ran to get the vaseline and rub it everywhere. It wasn't working. Now I am panicking and realizing how mad Allison is going to be when I have to break her toy. That is when I see that the tube comes apart on the top. Good thing for that. I pulled it apart, pulled his hand out and put it back together. She will never know!
He doesn't look very happy does he?

Where's Spencer?

Have you ever gone into your kids bedrooms at night before you go to bed to check on them? Has your heart stopped beating when you notice one of them is missing? You think I don't remember seeing him escaping and hiding somewhere else. Well, that happened Friday night. I was on my way to bed and stopped to check on the kids. I walked in and no Spencer. I quickly made a quick "sweep" of the house and then asked Craig if he had seen him. He said,"Well, did you look under the bed?" Of course I did not want to admit to him that I had not thought of that, so I quickly, but quietly snuck back in there and sure enough that is where he was! Kids are so cute!

Never say Never...

Never EVER think that your kids are being perfect angels so you can get something done! I as in the new toy room to be, going through all of the toys to see what we are keeping and what we are not. This has needed to be done for awhile now. I had my friends two kids over and I thought boy they are being so good. No one is fighting, crying, tattling or telling me they are hungry. And then...I walked into my daughters room and found her 2 with my Spencer. They found a bean bag like pillow in her room that had a hole in it. Apparently they decided that her room needed to look a lot like Christmas. Honestly the pictures do not give it justice. So I asked my friend to bring over her Dyson thinking it would suck better than mine. Well, we needed a miracle. The more we sucked the more little white things appeared. My friend Melissa kept saying, "I am so sorry." All I could say I am so glad it involved 2 of yours and only 1 of mine, because I might not be able to look at mine for the rest of the evening. We just had a great time cleaning that room for the past 2 HOURS!!!! Here's to having kids!

It is hard to see on her white dresser, but they were all over the place. It was like picking lice out of the carpet.

Can you see it all over the bedds? I pulled off the sheets to shake them outside and it seriously looked like it was snowing. Then we took off the mattress and it was all over the trundle bed.

They were covered in it. I took of Spencer's pants and turned his pockets inside out and they were filled with these little boogers. I then took off his diaper and they were all over his bum. Gross!!!

Her son was the worse. It was all in his buzz cut. His scalp was white!

Political Aftermath

So, my 2 older kids came home from school yesterday wanting to know if mom and dad voted. The answer was yes, of course. They then wanted to make sure that we had voted for McCain. Well, yes, of course. They went around our house all afternoon asking the other kids, "And who will you be voting for?" I thought okay, maybe I should have talked more about politics to them. I am not much pf a political talker though. I hated government in high school and now I am regretting that. Trying to relearn all this stuff 14 years later when my brain is just fried is next to impossible! Anyway, they get up this morning turn on the tv and see McCain giving his speech from last night. They are jumping and so excited, because they think he has won. I tell them no Obama did and they aren't too happy about that. So, Zach asks me why did he win. I simply said because more people voted for him. As I walked out of the kitchen I hear Allison say quietly we needed more people. Such smart kids I have!

Why can't I get anything done in a day???

That is a question that is asked most often in my home. I always seem to answer it with I just don't have enough time. BUT...when I try to think WHY I didn't have any time I can't seem to think of the answer. Today, I got up at 6am to get kids ready for school. I actually did a good job of being ready on time today. Then I took the boys to preschool. After that Spencer and I went to vote! We then took off for the gym. After that we had to get gas, run to the store, and pick up another little girl to drop at preschool when I pick up my boys. I then did the switch at preschool and took the boys to Chick-Fila. I promised them since I had 3 free kids meals. I then came home and ate my lunch and got Spencer down for a nap. I turned to the boys and said, "Mommy is going to take a shower and Spencer is asleep. Please be quiet and make good choices for just a few minutes." Did I just plant the idea in their heads by telling them what I was going to do? Or should I have just snuck off to take a quick shower? I did think of not even taking one, but I didn't think my husband would appreciate coming home to a stinky wife. So, I get out and Eli comes to me and says,"Matthew was cutting the carrots with the knife." Matthew then enters the room and says,"Mom, Eli had the knife with the carrots." HMMMM, do you think that more than one child was involved and they thought that if they could tattle on the other THEY wouldn't get into trouble? Well, this is what they did. They got the BIG bag of little carrots and thought they would peel them and then cut them with a butter knife. So nice of them. It's not like I don't ever feed them. I just took them out for a special treat. The best part is that Eli doesn't even eat carrots! So here is the evidence of ehy I can't get anything done in a day. Because I now have 1 hour before i have to go wait for kids to get out of school and everyone knows what happens when kids get home from school. JUST DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING ANYTHING ELSE ACCOMPLISHED BEFORE DAD COMES HOME AND DINNER TIME!!!!

Happy Halloween

This was a very busy week for our family. It seems like we had something going on every day. The week started off with the flu. I was very nervous for 2 reasons: reason #1 Halloween was on Friday and reason #2 we were having family pictures on Saturday. More on the pictures later, but can I just say that I am so excited for these pictures. My friend has a sister that lives in Utah and she takes the most amazing pictures! Anyway, long story short she flew down here for a group of us that wanted her to take pictures of our families. Yea for me!!!!

Okay, back to Halloween. Our week went as follows:
Monday: Spencer had the flu
Tuesday: Spencer had the flu
Wednesday: Eli had the flu. Mom went to Allison's class for banana bread making. Do you think I could have remembered my camera? As soon as I can figure out how to scan in the picture her teacher gave me I will post it.
Thursday: All better! Time to shop for clothes for pics on Sat.
Friday: Class parties. I went to Zach's and not Allison's. How do you split your time when they are at the same time? Besides his class needed helpers and hers had plenty. I took my camera this time and forgot to use it...UGH! They made pumpkin predictions...how many lines a pumpkin has, float or sink, how many seeds, how much it weighed, etc. They then got to eat pretzel, apples, capri suns, and fruit rolls. Our distrcit has very strict guidlines on what you bring in to the school. It all has to be healthy. None of the fun Halloween cookie decorating or anything like that. Boowhooo! We then came home from school, ate dinner and got ready to go trick or treating. I gave up years ago trying to get all my kids to match. You know, like the Incredible family, Wizard of Oz, etc. So, they get ot be whatever they want. This ear we had 3 Jack Sparrows, Hanna Montanna, and a lion. They were all so cute, but the lion took the cake. Spencer had been practicing for a week on what a lion says. He would tell everyone that opened their door, "ROAR!!!!" One guy had a strobe light and a scary mask on and my 2 year old walks right up to him and says, "You're a bad guy!" I just have to say this was the funnest Halloween ever!!! All my other kids at this age wanted NOTHING to do with putting on a costume and going door to door. This little guy put it on HAPPILY and loved every minute of it. Here's to growing up!

We went with a few of our friends. This is all of the kids. Check out the chicken on the bottom. Isn't he the cutest! He just sat there and never once complained about the costume!

Here is my kids.
